Oral Health

AIDM has taken a commendable step towards promoting oral health in the spirit of inclusivity by organizing an oral health screening program for Special Olympics athletes, operating under the banner of “Special Smile.” The inaugural screening session was conducted at AIDM and marked the beginning of a transformative four-month program set to benefit 200 special athletes. Prof. Dr. Hasnain Sakrani, Prof. Dr. Dinaz Ghandhi, Mrs. Asma Hasan, Prof. Dr. Naseer Ahmed, and Dr. Resham Nadeem, whose combined expertise and unwavering commitment to improving the well-being of individuals with unique needs were evident throughout the event. Supported by an enthusiastic group of house surgeons and postgraduate students, this novel activity at AIDM highlights the institution’s dedication to promoting a healthier and more inclusive community through accessible oral healthcare for all.

Breaking New Grounds in Dental Education: AIDM’s Certificate of Health Professions Education (CHPE) course, a pioneering initiative with affiliation to Jinnah Sindh Medical University, shines as a beacon of excellence in Karachi. Spearheaded by the visionary Dr. Shaur Sarfaraz, Head of DME AIDM, and orchestrated by the able guidance of Dr. Maria Ghani, the Course Coordinator, this six-month journey has taken flight with its first batch of talented scholars hailing from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. With over 20 participants already immersed and progressing seamlessly into the second module, AIDM stands as the sole standalone dental college in Karachi to offer this transformative CHPE program, reaffirming its commitment to shaping the future of dental professionals on a global scale

In an enlightening workshop hosted at AIDM, the Dental community gathered to explore the fundamentals of biostatistics. Dr. Sohail Lakhani, a distinguished Senior Instructor in Community Health Sciences from Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi, led the charge. The primary goal? To ignite a passion for research among our dedicated doctors.

This dynamic session delved into the practical application of STATA, a statistical software revered for its role in shaping descriptive and inferential statistics within the realms of medicine and dentistry.

The event was masterfully orchestrated by the Research Development and Review Cell, under the astute supervision of Prof. Dr. Naseer Ahmed, a prominent figure at AIDM. The occasion was graced by esteemed personalities, including the Dean of AIDM and CPSP Counsellor, the illustrious Prof. Dr. Ambreen Afzal along Principal of AIDM PROF.DR.HASNAIN SAKRANI.

Notably, the event saw the active participation of senior faculty members and postgraduate trainees of FCPS part II. This remarkable gathering was brought to life by the tireless efforts of AIDM’s Administrator, Dr. Resham Nadeem, and Dr. Beenish Fatima.

14th August Celebration

The Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) faculty members celebrated the Independence Day with traditional fervour on the 14th of August amid festivities.

The Independent Day event at AIDM featured a cake-cutting ceremony, and reiteration of the institute’s commitment to produce responsible citizens and nurturing the future leaders of the nation.

In this address on the occasion, AIDM Principal Prof Dr Hasnain Sakrani, emphasising the significance of Independence Day in the context of education and personal growth and the institutes role in imparting not only dental education, but also nurturing the patriotism, unity, and the importance of contributing positively to society.

“Our commitment to education extends beyond the classroom, encompassing the holistic development of our students into responsible citizens who will lead and serve with integrity,” remarked Sakrani.

The event featured vibrant cultural performances paying tribute to the diverse heritage of Pakistan, besides traditional songs showcasing rich tapestry of the nation’s identity.

The event organised by AIDM Administrator Dr Resham Nadeem was attended by all the heads of departments, faculty members and house officers.

Prof Dr Ambreen Afzal, Dean Academic AIDM, and Prof Dr Naseer Ahmed, Head of Research Development & Review Cell were also present.

Abstracts of the intended research are invited for the 2nd annual research day 2022 of altamash institute of dental medicine, both undergraduate /postgraduate students, dentists and faculty members are encouraged to participate.

Pakistan Association of Orthodontists (PAO) organized post graduate residents treatment planning session in Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine. Eminent Orthodontists and post graduate Residents in Karachi attended this session physically while Orthodontists across Pakistan joined virtually.

KARACHI: Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM)recently conducted the  1st Annual Research Day 2021 and inauguration ceremony of Altamash Journal of Dentistry and Medicine (AJDM).
The research day was an annual event that brings faculty and students together to share their research activities and spotlight the depth of the research enterprise at AIDM.
Under Prof. Dr Muhammad Altamash and Dr Hasnian Sakrani’s prestigious leadership, Dr Naseer Ahmed, Head of Research Development and Review Cell (RDRC), AIDM, Dr Maria Shakoor, Dr Rahima other team members from AIDM organised the Research Day. All the dental Colleges were invited to participate in the event.
This event aimed to search for new knowledge and celebrate the potential researchers’ exceptional efforts in the country. The event was part of the outstanding research programs arranged at the AIDM.
The program included speakers’ presentations, poster competitions and oral presentations by students.
Dr Rabia Arshad, Associate Professor, AIDM and Prof. Dr Farzeen Tanwir,  Bahria University Medical & Dental College (BUMDC), judged the students’ oral presentations. Prof. Dr Shazia Akbar, Dow Dental College and Dr Muhammad Khawaja Hammad Uddin, Vice Principal, School of Dental Care Professionals, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), judged the posters. Dr Syed Masood ul Hasan from  DUHS bagged the first position in oral Presentation, and Nabeela Hamza and Samreen Pirzada from AIDM came first in the poster competition.
