Convocation Ceremony for Batch 2017 and Batch 2018 of Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) Karachi was held on 15 Apr 19. Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi NI(M), graced the occasion as Chief Guest and awarded degrees to 144 graduating doctors and medals to the position holders.
While addressing the audience, Chief of the Naval Staff congratulated the students and their parents on their splendid success and said that the occasion of convocation is very important for graduates as it symbolizes successful completion of their education and their transition into a career aimed at serving humanity. He advised the graduates to be men and women of sterling character, have a positive attitude towards life and sacrifice personal gains for the national interests.
The Chief Guest appreciated the achievements of Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine for becoming Pakistan’s premier dental institute in the private sector. He acknowledged that this achievement has been attained through consistent hard work and sustained efforts of the faculty, the cooperation of students & guidance of their parents and patronage of the University of Karachi.
He expressed satisfaction that AIDM is engaged in the activities of community dentistry and charity by working in the localities of less privileged segment of the society and promoting awareness about oral dental hygiene in the public sector schools. The Chief Guest also lauded the establishment of Altamash General Hospital, a state-of-the-art medical facility.
Top students of two batches i.e Dr Mahrukh Khalid and Dr Iqra Gulzar were honoured with the Best Graduates’ certificates. Whereas, Dr Sabeen Masood received a special award for her contribution to research during her undergraduate studies. Earlier in his welcome address, Prof Dr. Mohammad Hasnain Sakrani, Principal of AIDM congratulated graduates on achieving this milestone. The Principal informed that AIDM is successfully running postgraduate programs of FCPS under College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and all the training programs are recognized by Pakistan Medical Comission (PMC). Besides, AIDM has an international collaboration program with Karonlinska Institute in Sweden for Ph.D programs.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor University of Karachi and senior officials of the education sector.
